About Amy
I grew up as the youngest child in a military family, moving around every few years as my dad was required in the Army, finally settling in Arizona for a few years (where part of my heart still lives!). Our family culture was shaped by many military mindsets: solution-focused, no fuss, keep it buttoned up, stay in the lines. Those ideas can be helpful and effective, but at times I found them to be very limiting for me and my personal development. I wanted to express more of myself and have the permission to explore taking up space in the world.
Through our family moves, I was able to meet lots of people and see new places and I value how much of life I’ve been exposed to. It is an honor to hear your stories and learn about your life. Moving around opened my family to up exploring things we likely wouldn’t have seen, but it was difficult to go through so much frequent change. Even in new opportunities, it’s possible to still feel unsettled. I didn’t know then what I know now - that in times of change, you still have to be rooted in yourself - I want to help you find your roots. I have learned that I am the type of person that thrives in connection and relationship, I just didn’t know how to advocate for that yet. And if you’re like me, I want to help you do the same.
I’ve built a long career supporting child and family welfare in Texas as a social worker. In that environment and in my own history, I’ve developed a passion for understanding family dynamics and how these dynamics influence and shape who we become. Through work, schooling, and attending therapy, I learned to respect how early life heavily influences our adult experiences and perspectives.
The thing is we are all just trying to do life and aren’t meant to go it alone. This is where I come in. My approach is to sit with you exactly as you are. I love to use humor as a method to make vulnerability to feel safe, so you can learn how to manage distress without escaping it or kicking it down the road to deal with later (it doesn’t get easier later).
Chances are that if we meet in session, something has gone wrong in your life, but you aren’t wrong. You’re worthy just as you are, in all your needs and desires. Cheers to you for making it here and what’s to come.

TESTIMONIAL
"Amy will create a comfortable space, and leave you feeling more confident and positive. She is empathetic, genuine, nonjudgmental, and a great listener. I rely on Amy to be a sounding board and let me get my thoughts out before helping me unpack them.”
“Amy has a warm and welcoming presence that made me feel safe, comfortable, and encouraged me to open up, something that is difficult for me to do….Amy has helped me increase my confidence in my decision making, while realizing that my voice matters. Working with her gave me the confidence in myself to make changes in my life I knew were needed but was too scared to make prior to working with her, and for that I am truly thankful for finding her.”
Amy, the human
When I’m not in the office, you’ll certainly find me outdoors! I am busy hiking new parks in Central Texas and enjoying time with my family and pup. I also love to take road trips, paint, and work on puzzles.
