Trauma
Could this be you?
Noticing that you feel unsafe in public spaces or around new people
Having repeated unwanted memories of a stressful experience; flashbacks; nightmares
Having strong physical reactions when something reminds you of a past event
Noticing that you are in conversations and not remembering what was said, able to ignore physical pain, or get so absorbed in something on your tv/computer that you don’t know what’s going on around you
This is not a complete list of ways that traumatic events impact people who have endured serious events. If any of these sounds like you, or you have been diagnosed with PTSD, let's talk about how we can help; PTSD is often neglected yet treatable.
We have diverse training in treating trauma and the symptoms associated with it by using EMDR, TF-CBT, or CPT. All of these therapeutic treatment types are backed by research and proven to assist those with trauma in reclaiming their lives.
Anxiety
Feeling like your brain won't quiet down — the worry keeps looping even when you know, logically, that things are okay
Avoiding situations, conversations, or decisions because the "what ifs" feel overwhelming
Physical symptoms that show up uninvited: a tight chest, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or a stomach that seems to know when something stressful is coming
Snapping at people you love, not because you're angry, but because you're running on empty from managing so much internal noise
Spending a lot of energy holding it together in public, then crashing when you finally get a moment to yourself
Feeling like you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop — even when things are actually fine
Anxiety is incredibly common, and it's also incredibly exhausting to carry on your own. The good news is that it responds well to treatment. We work with you to understand where your anxiety is coming from, interrupt the patterns that keep it going, and build practical tools you can actually use when it hits. We draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, and ACT, and tailor the work to what's driving your version of anxiety — not a textbook checklist.
Substance Abuse
Struggling in secret?
Addiction can lead you down a path where you feel there is no hope. Our treatment approach is to start with compassion and show you how to build resiliency. Helping you take back your life and developing skills to learn how to heal from the pain and grief of addiction will be a goal we accomplish together.
We draw from a variety of models and approaches to personalize each treatment plan:
12 step education, Seeking Safety, mindfulness, meditation, building self esteem, Narrative Therapy/rewriting your story, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Problems controlling alcohol use, drinking larger amounts, at higher frequency, or for longer than you planned
Problems controlling your use, despite a desire to cut down or quit
The knowledge that continued substance use is causing problems with your job, relationships, or physical health
Substance use has lead to risky or physically hazardous situations, like driving under the influence
You spend large amounts of time thinking about or getting the substance
You have avoided or stopped completely participating in regular family, social, or job activities due to substance use
Depression
Noticing that you are experiencing feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, or worthlessness; maybe even thoughts about death or not being alive anymore
Less interested in doing things you used to enjoy, like spending time with friends, family, or on hobbies
Finding it hard to get out of bed most days due to feelings of sadness
Healing from major loss like a loved one or a job or a major life transition and your mood hasn't improved or it's still hard to talk about
Crying more often, sometimes without understanding why
Noticing significant changes in your weight (without intention), energy, sleep quality, and/or concentration
